2 Hash Algorithms Missing

description

Hello!

I was going to encrypt my system drive with Veracrypt 1.14 (latest stable) and when choosing the Hash Algorithm, I noticed there were only these two available despite the cipher chosen:
  • SHA-256
  • RIPMED-160
So SHA-512 and Whirlpool are missing from the list, although it supposedly supports these two as well (https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Hash%20Algorithms)

Any ideas why?

OS: Win 8.1 Pro x64

Mounir will need to answer why the Whirlpool hash is not available in the system encryption. It could be due to the bootloader size limit of 31232 bytes or 30.5 KB and currently VeraCrypt is at or very close to the maximum bootloader size.

You can read the Mounir's explanation in this thread regarding SHA-512 currently not being included in system encryption.

thats a very old post and refers to v1.0F Is there any new info on updates and getting better hashes for cascading encryptions on boot drives?
