Long password decryption time

I encrypted my systemdrive using a password with 12 characters (leaving pim at default) both at my desktop computer (Core I7 3770K at 4.2 GHz) and my laptop (Asus UX 330) with Core I5 - 6200 . (The desktop has a slightly better single thread performance than the notebook)

The after entering my password it takes 2-3 seconds at the laptop until windows starts but it takes ~ 60 seconds at the desktop machine.

How can this be explained? Is there a way to reduce the decryption time for my desktop computer?

Update: the notebook uses UEFI, the desktop still BIOS. I assume that the 16 Bit restriction of BIOS is the reason for the difference? (So if I change my Desktop from BIOS to UEFI would that solve my problem?)

Change to UEFI, reinstall Windows10 and Software, Reencrypt... would take a lot of time and work, are there any other options?
