Recover encrypted drive after accidental convert from MBR to GDT and back?

Hi there,

I connected the external USB hard drive I used to mount with VeraCrypt as a fully encrypted device. When not mounted, the Windows 7 Disk Management shows it as a fully unallocated disk.

As I mistook it for another disk I was just working with, I did a "Convert to GDT Disk" which instantly took place. Realising my error, I quickly did the opposite "Convert to MBR Disk", which also happend instantly.

However, now VeraCrypt cannot mount the disk any more. Have I screwed it up completely or is my data still recoverable?

Thanks and best regards!

Hi again,

just figured out the "Restore Volume Header" tool of VeraCrypt myself and thus got my data back.

Sorry, for panic-posting here before looking into this more thoroughly on my own.
But maybe this thread will help anyone in the future running into the same peril as me.

Best regards.
