If I have encrypted the system drive with VeraCrypt will this prevent someone from gaining access into my PC via the web to other drives on my system that are not encrypted?

I am on the understanding that once the system is encrypted you are safe, yes or no?

Kind regards,

No. When any VeraCrypt volume, including system encryption is mounted, the access security to files and folders is the same as if the system or drives were not encrypted.

Hello Enigma2Illusion,

So we only encrypt a device so if it's stolen the thief cannot gain access to our data and that makes sense, but is there anything; other than a firewall, to prevent unwanted access whilst connected to the web?

Kind regards,

Anti-Malware and antivirus software.

This does not remove the human element of someone clicking on a link in an email or on an infected website that installs malware or ransomware or connecting an infected USB device into the computer. Not to mention hackers targeting your company or computers.

Disk encryption will not solve security breaches of data that is accessible. Only when the the volume is dismounted.

Hello Enigma2Illusion,

I have that and much more. I have since got my ISP to upgrade my router (set to it's highest settings) that's preventing them from getting any further and using VPN to communicate on the web. I think that should do it for now! I believe it's either an opportunist or someone wanting to install ransonware, either way they are not getting into my system.

Kind regards,
