We experienced the boot issue with 1.17 (after an incorrect password and pim combination entering the correct ones the machine fails to boot) on a Lenovo G50-80 notebook, but when we wanted to test the issue on more machines it was already fixed by commit d2ecbd3949c9, so 1.18 BETA 2 solved the issue for us. Thank you for the quick fix!

Thank you VERY much for implementing the volume ID feature request Mounir !!!

It has already proven to be extremely useful and I have converted all my batch scripts. All working well so far.

You are doing great work with VeraCrypt, it's much appreciated.

If you downloaded the 1.18 BETA 9 earlier today, the wrong drivers were included. Please re-download.

Probably because my account was new, I didn't seem to have permission to post in the "1.18 Beta Release - Feedback or Issues" thread on SourceForge, so I posted here. I now have permission to post on SourceForge, so I moved my post to that site, and it can be found here: https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/technical/thread/9e760c29/?limit=25&page=1#c78a

Just installed latest version but there's no Gost89 nor Streebog, what happened?

Also there are no cascading Camellia.

GOST and Streebog are in the UEFI preview with can be downloaded at the same location.
In the next beta expected in few days, UEFI will be merged with the standard setup and so GOST/Streebog will be present in the standard setup.

As for cascading, adding new combinations that includes Camellia and other new ciphers will make the list too long. I'm still thinking on a way to make selecting cascades more usable than having to go through a very long combobox list.

Hello, latest version includes Magma algorithm, description says it's similar to DES. Why would Magma be added if there's another newer russian algorithm that was just added too?

Several reasons:
  1. MAGMA is added because of performance.
  2. MAGMA is included in the latest recommendation from tk26 in addition to kuzmyechek.
Current implementation of MAGMA gives 150MB/s per core. This is not the maximum. Probably it can be ~3 times faster after vector optimization.
Aug 18, 2016 at 3:25 PM
Well, my question was related to security, I guess if Russia thinks it's secure, I'll trust. If Veracrypt adds it, I'll trust more.

Now that Magma is secure, I really hope there are cascading algorithms with these two: Magma - Kuznyechik. Would be good.

I just created a volume with Streebog and PIM 500 and it takes exactly the amount of time as SHA-512 and Whirlpool before some BIG optimization: 30 + seconds.

Now SHA-512 and Whirlpool takes much less, but Streebog is too slow.
