Volume size / expanding / shrinking

Please forgive my ignorance, but at least I searched the FAQs and read the tutorial all the way through as well as all the relevant parts of the documentation before asking this question:

(Note that I haven't downloaded VeraCrypt yet -- I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it before taking the plunge.)

When creating a volume, the user must specify the volume size. Obviously, unless one is clairvoyant and can predict the future, it’s difficult, if not impossible, to know how big you will need it to be. Is it possible to increase or decrease the size of the volume after it’s created? There's nothing in the documentation about this.

You cannot shrink the volume. You can expand the volume using VeraCrypt Expander. Below is an example of a user expanding a partition volume.

Thanks. So VeraCrypt Expander is a separate application? Does it come with the main VeraCrypt download?

Starting with 1.0f-2 version, the VeraCrypt Expander is included in the VeraCrypt setup executable file.

Excellent. Thanks for the info. I wish the documentation would have said something about it. You know the old phrase "RTFM" -- well I did that, but it didn't help!

Thanks again. :-)

I created an issue ticket requesting the VeraCrypt documentation include how to use the Expander tool that you can vote-up at the link.
