VeraCrypt is trying to access the internet

Hi all

Hope this is the right place to post this kind of thing. I've just installed Veracrypt 1.14 for Windows 7. I've checked the sha256 matches that on the website so there's nothing untoward there.

However when trying to run it for the first time, my software firewall told me it was trying to access the internet - which worried me. Any ideas why it would be trying?

Thx

VeraCrypt doesn't use or contain any networking functionality. This can be easily checked both on the source code and the binary itself.
What you are seeing is most certainly the attempt by Windows to check the validity of certificate used to sign VeraCrypt exe file (or to load its Root certificate) and your firewall display that it is coming from VeraCrypt since this verification is done in its context.
