Hello,

I wish to email an encrypted file to a friend. How do they open/decrypt it?

Thanks!

My knowledge of VeraCrypt is embarrassingly low (as I recently admitted in another thread), but for emailing encrypted files, I personally would forego VeraCrypt entirely and just encrypt the individual file using 7-Zip or AxCrypt. With 7-Zip you can choose among several file formats, and one of your options is to create an encrypted .zip file, which can then be easily opened on any Windows computer without having to download any software (including 7-Zip). With AxCrypt, one of the options is to turn your encrypted file into an .exe file, which can then be opened by running it on the recipient's computer without having to download any software (including the AxCrypt application).
