I'm in a bit of a weird situation.
  • I had my system drive fully encrypted with veracrypt.
  • I made a clonezilla backup image of the system partition before I was sending my laptop for repairs(I kinda messed up here by not backing up the 512MB boot partition).
Side Note: the clonezilla backup image was not encrypted
  • Got the laptop back from repairs(formatted).
  • Restored my clonezilla backup image.
  • Since I couldn't boot it because of the missing boot partition , I connected it to my spare laptop to decrypt it/recover some files.
I can mount the partition(\Device\HardDisk2\Partition1) in veracrypt by using:
  • The correct password
  • PKCS-5 PRF: HMAC-SHA-256
  • Checking "Mount partition using system encryption without pre-boot authentication" in the "Mount Options..." section.
This mounts the partition, but I cant access it. It shows up as RAW(not recognized by windows)
I tried to decrypt the partition, but I get errors about it.
As I now understand I need to decrypt the 'whole' drive?
But when I select "\Device\HardDisk2\Partition0" or "\Device\HardDisk2" I get this error: Image
    Any suggestions? :I
