Which is going to be more secure? what are the pro vs cons for each?

Would it be better to encrypt an entire usb drive or create an encrypted container file and store the file on the usb drive without encrypting the usb drive's partition?

One issue you may experience on Windows platforms is when you plug-in the USB stick that is entirely encrypted with VeraCrypt, Windows will prompt you to format the device each time.

At the same time this is the perfect way to disguise your data. Imagine someone finding your USB stick with a large file in it and probably some other traces of data (if scanned for)...... and imagine someone finds a usb stick that looks like not-formatted :) I bet that in the latest scenario, 99,9999% of the cases will lead to immediate formatting of the usb
