ENCRYPTED SYSTEM DRIVE WINDOWS 10 WON'T START

Hello,

I used veracrypt to encrypt the system drive, for the first time, on an HP laptop with Windows 10 x64. It completed the process, and everything seemed normal. I then ran CCleaner once, and turned off the computer. I then turned the computer back on, expecting to see the Veracrypt screen where I enter the password, but it never happened. Every time I start the laptop, there's just a black screen with the logo "HP" on it and it stays on that screen forever, nothing happens. I tried using the Veracrypt rescue disk and nothing happens at all. I've tried following instructions like starting the laptop and pressing Delete, Esc, F2, F9, etc. Nothing works. No bios screen comes up and the laptop is unusable. I don't know what to do. Could someone please help?
Thanks

HP has a troubleshoot document with a series of tests to perform for the blank/black screen at startup issue.

EDIT: Also Google "hp black screen" to find other articles about this issue.
