there is an encrypted volume created with Veracrypt used with keyfile which is working perfectly on Windows 7 (x64) but the same not on Windows 8.1 (x64). Win 8.1 hardware is HP Prodesk 600 G1 DM mini PC. It use BIOS (not UEFI), disk is MBR (not GPT). I updated all drivers. Even so when I try mount encrypted volume the PC restarts. I checked event logs, there is nothing there which could be connected regarding my problem. Only entries about Windows restarted unexpectedly.

Please advise what can be wrong or what should I try.
Thank you in advance.

Believe it or not, I have had exactly the same problem on older desktop pc and replacing the psu fixed the restarts. During mount, cpu is fully loaded and when psu fails to deliver enough power, it leads to restart. Try prime95 torture test and maybe your pc will restart too.

Just to understand your PC setup better, your PC was running Windows 7 64-bit with system encryption.

Did you decrypt the system encryption before upgrading to Windows 8.1?

No, not with system encryption, problem is with a Veracrypt volume.
