Veracrypt container with sync software

I currently use sync software to backup changes from my main drive to my backup drive. I have been using safeHouse explorer containers to hold confidential files that I may transfer to usb drive's from time to time. I wanted to switch to veracrypt containers but have encountered a problem. If I am working on documents in the safehouse container and then unmount the container when done, the sync software recognises the container has changed and copies the changed container to the backup disc with the changes made. I tried this using veracrypt containers but once the veracrypt container is unmounted the sync software doesn't recognise any changes made and the container is not backed up

Any ideas why the sync software would not pick up changes to the veracrypt container and how I could get it to recognise changes so the container is backed up. I have tried freesync aswell as my normal sync software to see if it made any difference but I got the same result.

In VeraCrypt main window, go to Settings > Preferences, and look for "Preserve modification timestamp of file containers" and uncheck the box. By unchecking this option, you are telling VeraCrypt to allow the timestamp of the file container to be updated to allow the software sync to recognize that the file has been updated.
