Hi everyone,

I made a big mistake running initialization on a full encrypted disk by TrueCrypt 7.1a using password + key. The disk is not a system one. Of course to be in the worst case, no backup of truecrypt header on an external storage.

So my harddisk1/partition0 is no more mountable even with option "use embedded backup header".

Does anyone think it is possible to recover the embedded backup header using an hex editor ?
I don't understand why the embedded is wrong ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not sure that the "embedded backup header" existed in TC volumes at all.
I think it was a new feature in VC. So if the volume was not converted to VC format, it does not contain a backup header at all.

FYI: Embedded backup header feature started with TC version 6 and inherited to VC.

Since you tried mounting using the option button to select "Embedded backup header" and it failed to mount means that both headers are damaged.

Without an external header backup, you have lost the data on the drive.
