Faq says: "Yes. Starting from version 1.0f, VeraCrypt offers the possibility to convert TrueCrypt containers and non-system partitions to VeraCrypt format. This can achieved using the "Change Volume Password" or "Set Header Key Derivation Algorithm" actions. Just check the "TrueCrypt Mode", enter you TrueCrypt password and perform the operation. After that, you volume will have the VeraCrypt format."

I find that this doesn't work. I get an error message about converting only working on truecrypt series 6.

This error message is returned if the version encoded in the TrueCrypt volume header is below 6, which means that this volume was created with TC 5.x.
Are you sure your volume was created with TC 6.x or TC 7.x?

The conversion functionality has been tested with all TrueCrypt versions from 6.0 to 7.1a.

I can't say that the volume wasn't created with tc 5.x. and I upgraded to tc 6.x and then 7.x when they came out.

So, what now? What is the simplest way to deal with this?

Issue resolved. I just created a new volume in veracrypt and copied files from the tc volume. Simple.

Thanks for letting me know what the problem was.
